Q: What are the differences between a Strida 5.2 and 5.0?
A: The 5.2 is a new generation Strida 5 model. Of course all good features of the Strida 5.0 are kept. We will sum up the most important improvements for you:
The looks: the grey looking plastic parts, i.e. the grey coloured ball joint is changed to a better looking black one. Also the colours of the brake callipers are changed.
The belt has become stronger
The freewheel is improved
Complete new on the Strida 5.2 innovative anti belt slipping system.
Excellent. You mention that the belt has been made stronger. Were the others prone to breakage? I thought they were supposed to last for an improbably long time like 50,000 miles…
What is better with the freewheel, and why is the black ball-joint housing better? I’m not asking these things to be awkward of course - I really want to know about engineering improvements.
I am very interested in the details of the new anti-slipping system, especially since the belt on my 5.0 has been slipping constantly the last few days. True, it has been very wet where I am, but still, it seems like it has been slipping too much. The snubber still looks like it’s in the right place, so I guess I will try tightening the belt.
I’d think the first step would be to check belt tension. My belt has never ever slipped at all. I feel sure that setting it to the correct tension will cure that problem StridaD.
