Yes, they fit.
Popped down to the store and tried them on.
These are the BTWIN Discover Light 16X1.60 Discover Kids’ Bike Tyre/ETRTO 40-305, reference number 8404155.
They’re cheap, readily available, and have a deep tread. Hopefully this mitigates problems with sliding when turning on wet or sandy ground.
Current setup:
- Front: Btwin Discover 16x1.60, 40-305 at 45 psi (new!)
- Rear: Kenda Kwest K193 16x1.50, 40-305 at 65 psi
(maybe the ancients know how the tire width can be quoted at the same ETRTO metric units, but have different imperial units)
Replacing the Gumonder OEMs which I think are about a decade old on my second-hand Strida LT (one already gave out by tearing during a ride some months back).
Downsides:
- I’m missing the reflective strip on the Gumonder tires and have tried to make up for it by decorating my rim in 3M reflective sheet; not sure how successful that was.
- Tires with different outer diameter means that the Strida tilts to one side slightly when folded (I found the Kenda Kwest was nearly identical in OD to the Gumonder OEMs, but the Btwins are definitely slightly bigger). I don’t find this a big problem though.
