Replacing prism reflective stickers

I don’t think it really counts as a Tips and Techs, so I’ll post it in the general section.

The prism reflective tape on the front tube was peeling off from the edges and chipping in parts, so it was no longer useful and I decided to replace it.

I thought it would come off easily, but I had to use parts cleaner and solvent, scrape it with a wooden spatula, and scrub it with a non-woven towel before it came off… I wish it had used that power to the peeling at the edges as well.
I forgot to take pictures of the process, or rather it was so sticky that it was impossible!:sob:

I then stuck down five pieces of chevron-shaped reflective tape I bought on Amazon… I should have measured the gaps and the horizontal and vertical alignment properly, but I just eyeballed it… I usually have a bag attached, so maybe three pieces would have been enough.

When I peeled off the previous one, it looked a bit like a snake’s shed skin…

I hope it lasts a long time, but I hear these types generally only last about 3-5 years?

This type of scale-like prism reflective tape is available from various manufacturers, and some products have weak adhesive strength, making them difficult to conform to curved surfaces, peel off easily, or are not very weather-resistant.

3M, a reliable adhesive tape manufacturer, seems to be the best, but there are many large, uncut pieces and wide widths available, so I chose this one.

Have a nice weekend!:waving_hand:
