I think it must be and east-west thing, but side stands dont seem to be very popular in the west. And a strida has perfectly good stand as part of its rear carrier - why complicate a beautiful shape with more ironmongery
You don’t say where you’re from, but I’d say UK & US vs the rest of the world “thing”. Stands are very common in Holland, as are chain cases: not so in UK or US.
The rear carrier is only a good stand when the bike is folded. Often a rider stops for a moment & doesn’t want to fold the bike. The stands in Asia are actually quite stylish - depends on POV of course
