I took the magnet thingy from my rear tire off as it was wobbly. Now I am having hard time knowing which screw/ part will go in what order. Can someone please help?
Another question, is this magnetic attachment supposed to be wobbly, not sure but I think I read it somewhere on another forum here after I took mine off.
Yes indeed!
Explanation in short:
If you fold the bike, the wheels are not any longer parallel to each other.
The wobbliness is intended to compensate the error in parallelism!
Hint: Please tighten the bolt 379 gently by hand (or use only 1 Nm).
It is mandatory to glue that bolt with Loctite 243 (or similar thread locking compound of middle strength)!
Hi,
And don’t put too much Loctite 243 otherwise the head may get stripped. It happened to me and cost alot of time and inconveniences. And it needed surgerigal intervention to remove the screw by professional welder. Consider changing the screw from Hex to Torx.
Is it mandatory to use loctite? Is it okay if I put the screw back and tighten it really with the key so that it doesn’t fall off as I read on the internet that loctite is only there so that your screw doesn’t fall off due to vibrations. Reason, I don’t have loctite and I was wondering if I really have to invest in it?
Yes I recommend to buy one. I think you will need it for many screws in Strids as shown in the user manual .
I think one droplet of the blue Loctite 243 is enough. But better to ask the expert @Blackstridaaustria
@Lakhjeet_Mann if you tighten it you may damage 338. From my experience I think you should not ride it without applying Loctite 243 because you may loose all of the items shown above. 338 may still stay in place and keep the tire in place but it is unsafe.
And please if anybody can tell me the correct way to use loctite/ similar product.
According to my understanding, you apply a drop of loctite on the thread of screw and just gently screw it till it stop screwing and then let it dry. Don’t overtight it. Am I correct? @Blackstridaaustria
Certainly will that work!
Important is to use middle strength (equal to removable strength) - which is indicated by the blue colour. Never use red coloured thread locker.
Indeed, one drop, and you’re good.
Try to get inner and outer thread clean before (dry cloth, maybe plus alcohol) as much as possible.
100% correct, I’ve murdered a few 338’s myself.
To be more exact: “Till it stop screwing, then a tiny bit of tension (with two fingers) and then let it dry.”
100% correct - always observe the curing time of the chosen product!
